Green bastions – Where Alexander van der Bellen got the most votes (overturned results)
-
The map shows where Alexander van der Bellen, the winning candidate backed by the Green Party, received the most votes in the (later) overturned Austrian 2016 presidential run-off elections.
The choropleths indicate his shares of the vote at the scale of municipalities. Territories have been re-scaled according to the absolute numbers of votes that van der Bellen received on 22 May 2016. Consequently, the map represents the number of supporters for van der Bellen in each municipality rather than the size of its territory.
What is an anamorphic map display technique, how does it work?
