Blue strongholds – Where Norbert Hofer got the most votes (overturned results, 22.05.2016)

  The map shows where Norbert Hofer, the outpolled candidate of the Freedom Party, received the most votes in the (later) overturned Austrian 2016 presidential run-off elections. The choropleths indicate his shares of the vote at the scale of municipalities.

  Territories have been re-scaled according to the absolute numbers of votes that Hofer received on 22 May 2016. Consequently, the map represents the number of supporters for Hofer in each municipality rather than the size of its territory.
