Austria’s political landscape according to the
2019 General Elections #nrw19 (Preliminary results, 30 Sept)
-
The map shows the preliminary results of the 2019 Austrian general elections at the scale of municipalities – postal votes are not yet included. The colours indicate the respective winning party (see legend). The overall winning People’s Party (ÖVP, 38.4%, turquoise) and the third-strongest Freedom Party (FPÖ, 17.3%, blue) was particular successful in smaller and rural municipalities, while the second-placed Social Democrats (SPÖ, 21.5%, red) as well as the Green Party (12.3%, green) attracted more voters in urban Austria.
The map represents the actual size of each municipality's electorate rather than the size of its territory. Therefore, the territories have been re-sized according to the spatial distribution of 6,396,796 eligible voters across Austria. There will be an updated map after all postal votes have been counted (expected 3 Oct 2019).
What is an anamorphic map display technique, how does it work?
